Heidi and Sam

All weddings are great. Really, I have yet to photograph a wedding where I did not enjoy myself. But there are some, where everything is just right. Heidi and Sam were not just a great couple. They had a super group of friends and family, and they all threw one hell of a party.

The wedding ceremony was in the Finch Chapel in Greensboro. A beautiful, magical place. But first, some light decorating outside:

Before the ceremony:

Then, the ceremony. Here is a shot from inside during the nuptials. It was a bit hot inside, being an August wedding, but not Too hot:

Then the kids had some fun:

And the getaway:

The venue, qubstudios, is a great urban warehouse location, complete with cyc wall.

Here it is, quite unassuming from the outside:

I mean, you have a reception with a built-in cyc, you have to use it:

And some great locations right outside the reception:

They even hired some competition for me, an old fashioned photo booth:

And of course, Big Fat Gap, an awesome Bluegrass Band from Chapel Hill, came to play:

Deeann's Bridal Session

Ernesto rained out Deeann's original bridal session, but I think it was a blessing, as we were treated to a wonderful day with great light on the rescheduled date. Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot. Deeann's mom loved the first one, and ordered a 16x23 Gallery wrap on canvas of the image - it looks amazing!

Sarah and Ridley

Wow. A super couple, guests and family, and a beautiful venue- it was amazing. Even though they were living in Atlanta, Sarah and Ridley were married at her parent's house in Lynchburg, VA, where Sarah and her sister Devin grew up. Dean and Rhonda Clower did an increadible job making a fairytale wedding come true for their daughter. I have picked a couple of images to show, but really, I wanted to include them all!!! What was really cool was that all of this happeened right after Hurricane Ernesto made a mess of things. It was beautiful on the wedding day, and then it was back to rain the next morning. Somebody certainly was looking after these two.

Ed and Nancy

Ed and Nancy might have waited longer than many to tie the knot, but when they did, it was quite an event! It was an amazing ceremony, Catholic with a number of Fillapino traditions included. They served one of the best dinners I have had at a reception in a long time (A well-fed photographer is a happy photographer)The Reception was a fun as the ceremony was beautiful. One of the highlights was some spirited dancing by Ed's sisters. Guys, thanks for including Gretchen and me in your day.

Sarah's bridal session

I had the pleasure of photographing a bridal session for one of my September brides, Sarah, last week. We setup the shot at her family's home in Lynchburg, VA, where the wedding and ceremony will be held. She had described it as picturesque, but wow, was it ever. Her mom Rhonda has been busy with the grounds of their reproduction plantation house, and it showed.

The entire family was there, they were a big help during the shoot, and I really enjoyed the day and the company. I cannot wait until the actual wedding, this one will be one to remember!

Here are a few shots.

The garden toad. Everyone has one of these, right?

Flowers:

He loves me, he love me not...

In front of the house:

and having fun on the awsome yellow rocker!

This opened about a year ago, and was the home of the old Lucky Strike Factory in Durham. We love the place, there are all manner of good places to eat, drink and jusst hang out. It was a goreous day, and he had a blast working with Denise and David and getting know them! Here are few shots from the session:

April and Beau

A road trip to Beautiful West Virginia was just what I needed a few weeks ago, take in some new sights, eat fast food without guilt, and enjoy the scenery along the way. I am so glad that I was able to share in April and Beau's wedding day. The hills and the resort where they had the ceremony and reception were beautiful! April was one of those brides that made everyone feel great, and they threw a great party!

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the day

Toni and John

Toni and John Dural got married May 12, 2006. For the second time. And they weren't married for 30 years already. You see, John was being shipped off to Iraq for a year, and they both went down the the courthouse to get bloodwork done for when he returned, as he was to leave before the normal waiting period. Once the folks at the courthouse found out he was going overseas, they arranged for a wedding that afternoon.
They had to wait over a year to have the wedding they really wanted, but it was worth the wait! Lots of friends and family gathered in Corolla, NC. Gretchen and and I had a great time working with the couple and getting to know them. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day.

Olympus e-330

I picked up a new Camera body last weekend, the Olympus e-330. It is the third camera Olympus has released in their consumer line, but shares the same mount as my E-1 camera and 4/3 lenses.

The Camera's big new thing is that it sports live preview, which allows one to compose using the big 2.5" LCD instead of the optical viewfinder. In addition, the LCD swivels out and either up or down, allowing one to frame photos overhead or down close to the ground. People have always been able to do this with a point and shoot, and even some more advanced fixed lens cameras, but never a digital SLR.

Here is shot of Della taken a few hours ago:

And one taken at dinner Friday night at Rockfish's:

Gotta love a goblet O' beer!

And finally, a walking waist level shot of an unsupecting family at a big box store:

Fun stuff!
